Atlantic Bonito Are Here at Topsail Island, NC

The Atlantic Bonito have made their arrival at Topsail Island for the spring migration. Anyone that enjoys fishing should plan a quick vacation to our beautiful island to take part in this amazing fishery.  It is some of best fishing Topsail has to offer.

Tanner Gray joined me Monday evening for an exploratory trip out of New River inlet to fish for these tasty morsels. Just about 3 miles out of the inlet in the Diver's Rock area we found them ready to bite. The Bonito and Bluefish were biting trolled Yozuri's in the Orange/Silver flash color and the Clown Color. While jigging bait balls and good ledges we caught Bonito and Black Sea Bass on Diamond Jigs and the color didn't seem to matter.  Light tackle spinning rods are all that is required.

Atlantic Bonito are part of the tuna family are great fighters with drag screaming runs. They are also excellent to eat, the white meat tuna, and can be prepared any way you would eat yellowfin tuna; blackened, as sushi or sashimi, in a ceviche, grilled, pan seared; it's all good.  Must eat fresh, for some reason they don't freeze well.

Get out there and catch your own. Go Get Some. We can point you in the right direction for an Atlantic Bonito charter boat.  Our YouTube video report is below.

New Superstar

I am very excited to announce the new Vacation Rental Manager that I have hired. We have been extremely fortunate to have had a great number of well qualified applicants for the position.
Dorothy Essey will be joining our team to fill this position. Dorothy has been a peer, a very good friend and confidant of mine for approximately 12 years. She has owned and managed her own Century 21 office for 27 years at Oak Island just south of Wilmington; Century 21 Dorothy Essey, Inc. Oak Island has long been considered our sister island because everything about their market, housing, rentals, real estate, demographics, etc is very similar to that of Topsail's. Dorothy's experiences will be put to great use.

Dorothy's offices have won multiple awards over many years and she has been involved in every aspect of North Carolina Real Estate from property sales to vacation rentals and everything in between. She has 16 years of experience in property management and 12 years of experience specifically with Vacation Rentals.

Dorothy has an English degree from UNCW, has been awarded numerous Quality Service awards, and received a National Leadership Award from President Bush at a White House Dinner in 2006. Her travel and hospitality experience is extensive including personal travels to 14 different countries staying in every type of accommodation imaginable including; rental homes, boats, bed and breakfast's, resorts, bungalows, all-inclusive resorts, condos, cottages, and more. She has owned several businesses and has a wide range experience in handling every type of client and customer interaction imaginable.

Having known Dorothy as long as I have, I can share with you that among her best talents are her people skills. She gets people motivated, excited, and headed in the right direction whether employee, client, or friend. She can diffuse difficult situations, is extremely goal orientated, is an excellent problem solver, and she can multi-task to boot. I've heard her very accurately described by another friend as "dynamite in a dress"; because she has unstoppable enthusiasm and work ethic.

Dorothy was the eighth of nine children and was born and raised on a farm in Roseboro, NC and grew up understanding exactly what work, sweat, and tears are. She has lived on the North Carolina coast for 30 years and has two grown children. She has a Jack Russell Terrier named Carmen that will be making the move to Topsail with her.

After 12 years of knowing her as a friend, peer, and fellow Century 21 office owner; I am very excited to get this opportunity to have her on our team. Dorothy will be moving into the area Saturday afternoon and Monday will be her first day on the job. There is a very large amount of information, software, systems, properties, and various information for Dorothy to learn, and I can assure everyone that she is extremely excited to meet and service all our properties and owners.
